Acupuncture for Shoulder Pain

Effective Acupuncture for Shoulder Pain in Houston: Natural Relief at Our Holistic studio

Anyone who has suffered from shoulder pain knows what a constant irritant it can be. In extreme cases, shoulder pain can completely disrupt your daily life, making simple activities like reaching up for something, putting your clothes on, or lifting items undoable.

Population surveys indicate that shoulder pain affects 18-26% of adults at any point in time, making the condition one of the most common regional pain syndromes. Unfortunately, persistent shoulder pain can lead to reduced productivity in the workplace, significant sickness absence, early retirement, or even job loss.

When shoulder pain reaches chronic levels, and cold compresses, muscle relaxants, and anti-inflammatory medication no longer work, you may want to try a drug-free, non-invasive, and holistic solution like acupuncture for shoulder pain to get positive and long-lasting results.

At templ™, we’ve worked with patients to minimize or eliminate shoulder pain through acupuncture, helping them recover their range of motion, and live a more pain-free life.

WHAT ARE THE CAUSES AND SYMPTOMS OF SHOULDER PAIN?

Shoulder pain can be caused by an acute injury or postural stress.

It can also be caused by chronic conditions including:

Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) a condition that is characterized by stiffness and pain in the shoulder joint that makes it impossible to lift your arm overhead.

Shoulder arthritis, a condition whereby the cartilage inside the shoulder joint gets damaged and starts wearing down on the ball and socket sides of the shoulder joint resulting in pain, stiffness, and reduced range of motion.

Fibromyalgia – patients experience pain and stiffness around the joints in the muscles and joints, especially the neck, shoulders, back, and hips. The condition is often triggered by a serious injury, such as after a car accident.

Rotator cuff tendinitis, an inflammation of your rotator cuff and biceps tendon often experienced by athletes who play sports that require the arm to move over the head repeatedly.

Can acupuncture help shoulder pain?

Acupuncture has been in use as an alternative pain remedy for the last 2500 years. It helps reduce inflammation, relax tight muscles, and expand the patient’s range of motion, providing general pain relief for several shoulder problems. When used in conjunction with other therapies s like electroacupuncture and herbal liniments, acupuncture for shoulder pain produces even better results.

Several studies have also backed the efficacy of acupuncture for shoulder treatment.

In a study involving 31 patients diagnosed with osteoarthritis or rotator cuff tendonitis, the patients showed improvement after receiving 12 acupuncture treatments over 6 weeks showed.

Another study by researchers from the Yuxi Hospital of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) involving 100 shoulder periarthritis patients also revealed that Acupuncture relieves shoulder pain, inflammation, and range of motion impingement.
