Acupuncture for Tendonitis

Natural Relief for Tendonitis with Acupuncture: Effective Holistic Treatment Options in houston

Do you often experience a dull ache or discomfort around your shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees, or heels that gets worse with repetitive movements? If so, you are most likely suffering from tendonitis.

Tendonitis is inflammation of your tendons - the thick cords that connect muscles to the bone – that causes pain, tenderness, and sometimes swelling just outside the affected joint. If untreated, tendon inflammation can lead to the tearing of a tendon and may require corrective surgery. People experiencing tendonitis are sometimes forced to stop recreational activities like sports or even gardening, leading to a lower quality of life.

Studies show that the total number of tendonitis cases in the US is on the rise, having already surpassed the 4 million mark in 2020.

At templ™, we customize acupuncture treatment for each patient suffering from tendonitis pain to help them regain movement and strength.

WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF TENDONITIS?

The TMJ is a complex joint that functions like a sliding hinge and connects the jawbone to the skull on both sides of your head. It enables your jaw to move up and down, side to side, and forward and back. When the bones, muscles, ligaments, discs, or nerves involved in the joint’s normal functioning fail to work, you’re likely to experience pain while chewing, talking, or laughing. TMJ disorder can be the result of a jaw injury, arthritis, genetics, or bruxism – the unintentional clenching and grinding of the teeth, usually during sleep.

The Common types of tendonitis that we encounter and treat include:

Achilles tendonitis - an overuse injury of the Achilles tendon which connects the calf muscles to your heel bone. It is mostly experienced by runners.

Golfer's elbow – this is a condition whereby pain and tenderness are felt on the inner side of your elbow, sometimes spreading into the inner side of your forearm.

Patellar tendonitis - also known as jumper's knee, this condition occurs when there is an injury to the tendon that attaches your kneecap (patella) to your shinbone.

Tennis elbow – this is a condition that causes pain and tenderness around the outside of the elbow. The pain sometimes also spreads to the back of the forearm.

At templ™ has the expertise and tools to treat a wide range of tendonitis pain conditions using acupuncture and Chinese Medicine to offer relief and increase your mobility.
